'Had I not been awake I would have missed it'
I am Evie and I create bespoke images of Brighton's West Pier and the Royal Pavilion, (and now Preston Park wildflower garden), based on photographs I have taken on days exploring the city. With a bit of digital alchemy and some imagination I layer and colour them, keeping the intrinsic photographic image as it was photographed. I sell them as framed or unframed prints and gift cards. My style is colour-full, bold and I hope a bit magical, and I have taken my style and inspiration from the unique city I love.
My work is inspired by the poem of Seamus Heaney - Had I not been awake I would have missed it and what it can tell us about our lives and how we live them. I hope the essence of this lovely piece is reflected in my work.
By living so much in our heads we often miss the beauty of that which is all around us - we pass it by and in so doing we miss something so vital. With these images I have tried to capture some of that which is so easy to miss and remind people of the history, beauty and magic of these two our lovely city of Brighton - of its pasts and their present
